THE PROJECT / OUR PRINCIPLES

Privacy & Local Data

How Steam Game Wiki stores player notes in your browser, handles local search, and lets you export or remove your records.

Your tool records stay in this browser

The Collection Tracker, Crafting Notes, and Deck Checklist use localStorage on this site’s origin. Your names, notes, lists, and collection times are not sent to a server by these tools. There are no accounts, shared profiles, or automatic cross-device synchronization.

Open tabs on the same site can synchronize saved records within this browser. If another tab changes records while you are editing, the tool preserves your local work and explains the conflict. Save the form in this tab before exporting those changes, or choose “Load saved records” to discard local changes and continue with the latest saved copy. This synchronization does not send records over the network.

The browser may remove local data when you clear site data, use private browsing, switch profiles, change the site domain, or reach a storage limit. Keep JSON exports of records you want to preserve.

Export, import, and deletion

Each tool can export its own JSON backup. Importing a compatible backup validates its format and asks before replacing current tool records. Keep backups private if they include personal information.

Use “Clear data” in a tool to remove that tool’s saved records, or remove this site’s data through your browser settings. Clear leaves an empty state containing the tool identity, format version, and update time so an older tab cannot silently restore removed records. Clearing one tool does not erase another tool’s records. If storage or safe coordination between tabs is unavailable, the interface explains that changes are only in memory and can be exported.

Search and browsing

Search runs locally with a static Pagefind index. Search text is not sent to a search service. Submitted terms appear in the page URL, and may therefore remain in your browser history or in a link you copy. Avoid entering sensitive information into site search.

This website does not include analytics, advertising scripts, or tracking cookies. Your hosting provider may process standard web request information when serving static files. The site operator should review the chosen host’s policy before deploying.

External sources

Official Steam and other source links take you to separate websites with their own privacy practices. The shipped game identification images and fonts are served as static files from this site; browser tools do not upload records to those sources.
